Horse urine was used as mouthwash.
I mean, urine has been used for all sorts of things.
You know, like tanners need urine to make leather.
And that's where that expression, not a pot to piss in, comes in.
Because people would sell their urine to the tanners.
And if you were so poor, you didn't even have...
A pot to piss in, to sell your piss.
So urine does have lots of things.
In the 16th century, donkey urine was considered very medicinal and Catherine de' Medici had to sort of drink it to try and get pregnant.
It's not a far stretch for me that they might think it had some sort of antiseptic properties.
And of course, there were loads of horses pissing up a storm, wasn't there?
You know, with those Roman legions.
They certainly had plenty of horse urine.
Yeah.
But toothache is debilitating, isn't it?
