It's super bright turbo lights, I call them. They meet up with me there. I show them the huge beta cam tape, my media credentials, my ID. And they say, unless those people are right behind you now, there's nothing we could do. You need private security. Like, yeah, that's a great suggestion. So I hire a cab. to drive me to CNN at Atlanta.

And while we're, my friend I think came on duty at 10 in the morning and we get there like at six in the morning. So we stay in a hotel and as we're leaving, pulling out to go to CNN, all of these cop cars pull into our hotel and they stop a taxi in front of the hotel. They stopped the wrong taxi. They were after us. I'm like, go, go, go, go.

Now, I don't know how the CIA works, but I would, to protect myself, I say, what would I do if I were them? Well, if I were them, I would have people on the payroll in every city in America with 100,000 people or more. And Nashville's, you know, half a million people at the time. So, and what better people to be on the payroll than police, right?

Who are, a lot of them are Masonic members and all that stuff, and then they do these little side jobs, right? So I get to CNN, and again, surrounded by the police on the sidewalk as I'm about to go in, one of which was a captain. And I figure these guys don't know why they were told to stop me.

Maybe they were told I've got a videotape of President Clinton with a prostitute or something like that, and we don't want to embarrass the president, who knows what. So I tell them, I said, look, here's my NBC credentials. Here's my super big broadcast quality beta cam videotape. And I say, you know what's on here?

It's the crew of Apollo 11 faking being halfway to the moon, proving they didn't go to the moon. One of the three officers is just like shocked. And I'm like, am I under arrest? They don't answer me. Am I free to go? They don't answer me. The cab driver's like, you know, let's go. And I don't want to involve him. I said, go save yourself.

So he heads off one direction and they didn't say I couldn't walk away. So I walk away around the corner of CNN. And as soon as I'm out of their sight, I take off as fast as I could. Back then I was a little leaner than I am now. And I'm at an alley and I'm like, I need to know which way to go. It's like a crossroad in an alley. And I'm spending like one second too many deciding which way to go.
