I always describe my mother as she was like a movie star that just never made any films.
She acted like she was a movie star.
I mean, it was very... At first it seemed quite traditional in the sense that my father was a real go-getter.
My mother supported him.
very well she was very capable you know whatever whatever job she took upon herself she would do it very well but she was very much in a supporting role to what my father wanted to do which was to get ahead and to do well you know and whatever dreams they had for the family
And so, you know, he wanted to come to Australia with the family.
I think that she was very much, you know, followed him in that, but it wouldn't have been probably her choice, you know.
Oh, I think that he was sick of the rain and the cold and he wanted a better life for the family and he didn't like that.
He didn't like the depressive weather of Scotland.
I don't think he liked the social entrenchment.
I don't think he liked a lot of things about... I mean, he loved Scotland.
He loved the people and he, you know...
a lot of things about it.
But there were a lot of things, you know, probably pointing away from Scotland in that particular time.
