When I was growing up, it was the 50s.

And so it was the war wasn't long gone.

And so, you know, there was the after effects of that.

And also, you know, the Australian government had that very, you know, you know, questionable policy at the time, which brought white people from different countries, you know, and...

Well, it's a little bit emotional.

I had kissed Janet Roos.

Didn't want to leave Janet.

And that was delightful, I have to say.

But then again, you're going to the other side of the world.

You're going to another very exciting thing to do.

So I loved it for the most part.

I mean, it gives you a double perspective on a lot of things.

I mean, there are things that happen to you, I think, when you go to another country, no matter who you are or how old you are.

I think it was probably a lot more challenging for my mother and father because they were in their 40s.

So they were very established as people.

And they made friends and they did very well.

And I think that all things considered, they considered going to Australia to be a very good move.

But having said that, there were Scottish people and Scottish people, they remained.

Although they went back to Scotland and they found, they were reminded of, in many ways, why they left.

For example, you know, my mother was going to go down to the town on a Saturday morning with her friend Martha and my mother had jeans and Reeboks on, you know, as you do in Australia, you know, because she was probably in her 70s, you know.
