That particular place and time is what I paint about.

So I start them off in that very, not loose way, but it's a feeling, an overall feeling.

So in a sense, it looks abstracted.

And then I just work with it and it becomes more condensed and distilled.

And I see what's needed for it that makes it more in focus.

Exactly.

That's what I think where painting lies, is in that, you know, you don't want words, you just want to experience it and feel it.

Like the essence of something.

Yeah.

When Lucien always talked about how things felt about looking at paintings, what it feels like, that stayed with me.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I didn't want to take it down that path.

I wanted to be in the present.

And I mean, what is fascinating when I first got the place was my sudden explosion of memories coming back to me when I was there, when I was in the land again.

My memory bank opened up.

And that's a nice feeling to have that I've now, you know, I've got a continuum.

I haven't got no breaks in my memory.

But I like being in the world today.

I just like being in the present.

And I do it through observing and reacting and putting it down in a certain amount of time.
