I can concentrate for about two or three hours painting and then it sort of goes.
Then I need to go off and do something else and come back.
You know, Lucien painted for like five or six hours every day.
He learned, he pushed himself to learn, like your brain's a muscle almost, how to learn how to concentrate.
So that helps me stand a better chance to possibly make a better painting that's got something to say.
You know, what's just extraordinary is that, you know, when I went back up there, because there are all these small family farms in this country, and I went to the local school, so when I went back for the first time, having got this little blade, all the neighbours, they're still there from who I grew up with and I was at school with.
My neighbours are on eight generations who've been on that farm.
