Spent some time as a second lieutenant in the French army, but
has a fascination for markets, has published a number of books, but is, again, similar to previous guests, is a bit contrarian, you know.
How did you get to meet him?
I've been following Louis Vincent Gave for a number of years, right?
I've been listening to other podcasts and, you know, he's one of the best guys out there in terms of being able to talk about China, but also being able to talk about Europe as well.
Yeah, I mean, you can't really talk about China without...
looking at being a being a bit of a specialist in geopolitics.
So looking at internally in China, right, actually listening to the words of the Chinese Premier Xi Jinping, and dissecting then what are what are the real motives there?
No, no, definitely not anti-China.
Has lots of friends in China, but understands China.
I think the narrative of West versus East, sometimes we get lost in that a bit.
It's a bit more nuanced than that.
He sees opportunities in China, but also lots of problems in China.
And we'll get into some of that.
What do we need to watch out for?
Louis gave an interesting side when we brought up the issue of demographics.
He spoke to the transformation of Chinese society, the urbanization of China.
massive movement from rural community parts of the country into the cities.
And we saw that in Ireland.
I mean, in Ireland, you know, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 children was required for the land to work on the land and it was fine.
