When the settlement went through last July, people, at least some people who thought it was a good idea said, well, this will bring a de facto salary cap to college athletics.
And now all of the numbers will come down and you know, then we'll have more of a level playing field, which was never going to be true because all you were going to do was create standards.
And then as has always been a case in college athletics, the big programs with the coaches who will,
are willing to do it, we're going to cheat wherever they needed to cheat.
But what's interesting is that nobody even calls it cheating right now.
Like there are rules on the books that are supposed to be followed right now.
And nobody's even trying to follow them.
Like Norlander had a quote from a coach.
Yesterday, I think in a story about Duke Harris, the Wake Forest transfer who is now enrolling at Tennessee, and the quote from a coach was, we're not even operating like there's a salary cap.
They can send us a letter later and tell us we did something wrong, but we are operating as if
We have however much money to spend that we can get in our hands.
Whatever we can get in our hands to spend, that's what we're throwing around.
And so the money is still being thrown around everywhere.
And yeah, you're going to see basketball teams that have payrolls with somewhere between $20 and $25 million.
You're going to see guys on people's bench that are millionaires.
Millionaires will be sitting on college basketball benches next season.
