There's a court case that never happens.
They're acquitted.
And it's in the aftermath of that.
So there's an awful lot of subterfuge and suspicion.
And I mean, it's like a John le CarrΓ© novel, really, what's happened.
No, absolutely not.
And those who knew him, like personally, would have said that he was the last person that they would ever imagine would have done that.
He was a very committed Republican.
He lived a very ordinary life with a dedicated family and wife who actually was with him up till the very end, nearly.
I mean, she only left the cottage, which had no electricity or running water in it.
I mean, how they lived in that cottage in Lent is...
is beyond me, but she did live with him.
She stayed with him and she went back for some sort of medical issues to Belfast just the day before he was shot dead, which happened on the night of the 3rd of April, 2006.
He was one of the intriguing parts of the story.
One of the many intriguing parts of the story is at the time he was writing a journal and
And he is believed to have been noting down everything he did for MI5, everything he knew.
And God knows what else is in the diary.
That journal has been in the possession of the Garda SΓochΓ‘na all these years, despite the family's repeated requests for it.
And it has been repeatedly said, in particular by Drew Harris, the former Garda Commissioner,
that the journal will form part of any forthcoming cases.
