So I can't be absolutely certain, but I think...
It was these charming men by, this charming man, in fact, my God, by the Smiths.
Definitely the Smiths were the first band that kind of blew me away.
Well, it's funny, in retrospect, I now realise that it might well have been the fact that although they're from Manchester, they were so rooted in Irish and kind of Catholic, if you like, tropes.
They were probably, you know, by blood more Irish than you too.
And so when they were stripping the lead off the roof of the Holy Name Church or whatever, I guess in some way I was kind of, you know, recognising them.
you know, a kind of a common experience.
I don't know, like, listen, they were brilliant.
Johnny Moore is a superb guitarist.
I'm going to see him next month in, I think, Ivy Gardens.
Morrissey, I think I saw him last in Sydney.
He's kind of gone over to the dark side somewhat in his kind of political views, which I find regrettable.
You know, I think I can kind of park it to a degree, whatever.
Like, you know, I probably, you know, one of the questions I'd ask in my weekly Q&A would be, who would you invite to dinner?
I probably wouldn't invite Morrissey to dinner.
I'd probably rather just listen to, you know, him sing rather than listen to him talk.
But, you know, he is a brilliant songwriter.
So, yeah, that holds up.
