We were just expressing how we were feeling, what we were experiencing, getting into the music industry, being young women in the 90s.
And belonging has been something that has been very important to me and the other girls for a really long time.

Yeah, I just love the inclusivity and it's something that I think about now.
I was at Mardi Gras in Sydney at the weekend and obviously that is such a beautiful community that's been a huge part of the Spice Girls' success and our solo careers and we feel such an affinity with the community and it is about belonging.
It's about being an individual but belonging, having support, being yourself, being accepted.
you know, but being part of something.
And it's that kind of strength in numbers.
I think that's what I felt with the Spice Girls because I always wanted to be a performer, but I wasn't that confident.
I wasn't that outspoken.
But with the other more outspoken members of the band, like Mel B, like Joey, you know, quieter people like myself and Victoria, we were able to like find this power and succeed.
So yeah, strengthening numbers was always a big, big thing for us girls.
We became aware of it really quickly.
When we started, we just all had the same ambition.
We wanted to be pop stars.
We wanted to be famous.
We wanted to travel the world.
