A hundred percent. I mean, the whole essence is a true believer is one who gives from what God has given him. You know, when God gives you wealth, you're entrusted with it. God loves to see you enjoy that wealth. So, you know, buy nice clothes, eat good food, live a grateful life.
But what the Quran says for the family of David, which is, you know, David is also a biblical figure, is do, O family of David, gratitude. It doesn't say say gratitude. It says do gratitude. Because gratitude isn't about just what you say. It's about what you do. Do you use your wealth to help those that are needy? Do you use your wealth to uplift others?
If you do, not only does that make the world better, but it really brings the joy in your life. And then that is the wealth you really preserve. Because when we die, we're not taking anything with us. And that's what people forget. Death is inevitable. And we're not taking our possessions with us. The only good that we take is the good that we send ahead. It's the actions that we do.
Those are what result in true spiritual wealth when the soul goes on. So whatever wealth you just use for yourself for a good time, that wealth dissipates. The wealth you use to help the poor, the needy, to support the oppressed, to feed the hungry, that is wealth that is stored with God for you with your soul forever.
What was Muhammad's wealth? Was he pretty loaded?
You know, so it's amazing. Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, refused to keep wealth in his home. Really? He would be given gifts, sometimes a lot of wealth, gold, animals. And before the end of the day, he would have it all distributed to the point where once he was gifted a lamb. And so he spent the day, he gave out all of the lamb except the leg he kept for his family to eat.
And his wife asked him, why did you give away the whole lamb except the leg? And he said, the reality is I kept the whole lamb except the leg. The leg we eat, we lose. The lamb we gave in charity, that is with God invested with us, and we will have it on the day we need it most when we return to God.
