What Does The Future of College Athletics Look Lile? Elliot Bloom, Joel Erickson, and Guenther Steiner Join!

(00:00-30:09) – Query & Company opens on a Hump Day Wednesday with Jake Query and producer Eddie Garrison touching on a variety of topics that they will discuss throughout the show from Colts injury watch to college athletics. Joel Erickson from the IndyStar joins the show to provide an update on some Colts players that are dealing with injuries, believes that corner back is the bigger need at the trade deadline over pass rusher, and if Shane Steichen is more confident in his play calling or if having Daniel Jones is allowing Steichen to call the plays he has been dialing up. (30:09-36:23) – This morning IU’s Vice President of Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Scott Dolson, joined the Fan Morning Show and discussed a variety of topics. One that Jake found interesting was the way IU was ready for NIL and having one of the biggest budgets in the nation. (36:23-47:10) – The first hour of the show concludes with Jake and Eddie discussing one of the latest hot topics in college athletics because of two schools landing players that played in the G League. (47:10-1:09:51) – The second hour of Query & Company starts with Jake Query and producer Eddie Garrison trying to find an area where the Tennessee Titans could have the upper hand on the Indianapolis Colts. Plus, they debate which three remaining games on the schedule could garner interest to be flexed into Sunday Night Football. (1:09:51-1:21:05) – Former 1 One engineer and team manager, Guenther Steiner, joins Query & Company to preview his upcoming show at Clowes Memorial Hall on November 14th. He discusses the uphill challenge for Colton Herta in his transition from IndyCar to working his way up to Formula 1, believes that Alex Palou could switch from IndyCar to Formula 1 and would be considered one of the best drivers in the series, and compares his approach to racing to Max Verstappen’s. (1:21:05-1:30:12) – Jake and Eddie conclude the second hour of the show by sharing their thoughts on NBA being back on NBC. Plus, they discussed last night’s games with Luka being a ball hog and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s ability to flip the switch and take over a game. (1:30:12-2:00:08) – Purdue’s Director of Basketball Operations, Elliot Bloom, joins Query & Company to explain everything that goes into scheduling non-conference games in today’s college basketball. He highlights how excited he is to see Oscar Cluff, Gicarri Harris, C.J. Cox, Jack Benter, and a couple other guys perform this season. Elliot also weighs in on the future of college athletics with two former G League players coming to college athletics and how playing professionally overseas factors into this. (2:00:08-2:07:50) – Jake and Eddie thank Elliot Bloom for his transparency during their conversation in the previous segment, discuss what could happen when IU and Ohio State meet in the Big Ten Championship Game and the CFP, and touch on the MLB World Series.
