To Mask or Not to Mask as Part of Standard Precautions?

28 Mar 2023

Description

Overview: Recently the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) allowed institutions to relax in-facility masking strategies. With the end of the public health emergency on the horizon, is it time to further adjust masking guidance in healthcare? This pro/con discussion will highlight the debate on whether to incorporate an updated standard for universal precautions in healthcare settings to permanently include universal masking in routine patient-care interactions or to refine a risk-based approach for patient care for masking. Speakers: Ibukun Kalu, MD Erica S. Shenoy, MD, PhD Moderator: Deborah Yokoe, MD, MPH
