She was helping us with juvenile diabetes research, all the fundraisers for that. And then we did a 5K run. She was good at that. She would organize it, get sponsors, get the word out.
She said she was in stage three. Her and Mike were talking about not going through chemo and radiation and just living what life she has left.
She said she was too sick to fly. She had the flu and the norovirus, and it hit her so hard because of her cancer. She had gone to the doctor, and they put her on such a high dose of steroids that her blood sugar was elevated. She had asked to borrow a vial of insulin.
Yes. And I told her that Chris was getting ready to leave the house, that he could drop it off for her.
What are you thinking at that point, Jennifer? I think there's total shock. I just remember thinking, this isn't happening. This can't be real. Yeah, this was so tragic.
She said that her and Mike, they were both sick and she had to start taking small insulin shots.

Tremendous. Tremendous. She was amazing. Like, she just gave us all the information we needed because you learn as you go.
Very hurt, very betrayed, just in disbelief.

And because of the cancer, she needed some insulin because the steroids had made her blood sugar go up. Okay, so that can help. Yes. And so I had got a bag together for her with some drinks, and I'd put the vial of insulin in there for her.
They were very close. They did everything together.

She said that her and Mike, they were both sick and she had to start taking small insulin shots. I knew she said that the flu and the norovirus had hit her hard and made her more sick because of the cancer that she had. Then I had asked her if she was going to the cancer center or Dr. Halsey. And then I volunteered a vial of insulin if she needed it.
