God, why am I forgetting that? It's either 1 Kings or 2 Samuel, I think. I'm not that good about these things. But yeah, if you want to grab it for me, I can just look that up for you really quick. This is somehow turning into a weird Bible episode. 1 Samuel 17. I was close. I was close enough. Let's see. Where did the... See, this is what always happens to me.

I could swear I had the right one, but it's fine. Save. Now it's the right thumbnail! That was quick. Yeah, I told you. Nice.

I told you I could be swift. Swift, we did. Maybe one second here. I should have thought to just have my Bible open instead of trying to remember what the book said.

Well, to give you a sense of where we were, half an hour ago, I was still writing this week's episode. And, boy, let me tell you, the whole Vikings founding a colony in North America thing... way more convoluted than you might think it is. And I was myself building the set for upstairs for tomorrow. Yeah.

Uh, the whole like leaf Erickson discovered North America thing is not as simplistic as you might think, but we'll be getting into that, uh, you know, next week.

Yeah. Oh my God, dude, I've been having so much fun writing this one. I believe it because originally the concept was going to be, uh, uh, what actually drove the Vikings out of Vinland? Why didn't they stay? Because currently the perspective is they liked the land.

They felt like the land was worth settling, but the natives were a problem and they were, they felt like they couldn't, they couldn't fight them. Meanwhile, literally within 10 years, another Norse invasion occurs in Britain against a, a United England invasion. that has been fighting the Norse for 200 years straight. And they just invade and win.

Like, the Danes and the Norse come in and they just blow through the English with no problem. And I'm supposed to believe that 10 years before that, they couldn't have done that to people who were fighting them with basically stone weapons. That's a great point. You kind of think of it, it's like, you know, if the Vikings at, not Vikings, if the Norse at Vinland had chain mail...

there would have been no competition. They would have been invincible for all intents and purposes. And yet it didn't occur to anybody to be like, Hey, we could just go back and get some chain mail. I mean, if they had gone to the King of Norway, they had gone to Olaf Trigvason at Olaf Trigvason and they had won, you know, St. Olaf, my, my friend, uh, we found a bountiful land to the West.

It's only like six days from Greenland, uh, We have a whole bunch of grapes. We have hardwoods. We have seal skins. We have all of these wonderful resources that really would not take that long to get back here in the grand scheme of things. It would take, you know, a month for something to get from Vinland to Norway. Do you want to commission an invasion of some kind with our weapon?
