The PBA has felt their fans becoming less engaged over time. The league doesn't attract as many fans to PBA arenas as they used to, and that may not be the league's fault. The PBA in the 70s and 80s, really all the way into the early 2000s, was such a prime mover in Philippine football.

Well, the PBA indeed has its own competition committee. What they didn't do was consult them in this case before the PBA Board of Governors happened to come back and say, by the way, we have a four-point shot now. We loved it at the All-Star Game. That's where the PBA's galaxy brain kicks in. What if we don't ask the coaches? They can't go crazy if we don't ask them. And so the coaches of the league were not consulted before the Board of Governors announced announced that there would be a four-point shot.
