She first became part of the AGC family in 2007 with backpacking the Grand Canyon, Northern Cascades, Kilimanjaro and Greece. She was hired in 2017 and led trips to Acadia, Martha’s Vineyard & Nantucket, Newport RI, Vermont, Adirondacks, Utah, Montana, Virginia, Georgia, Minnesota, Wyoming, U.S.V.I., Ireland, and Portugal to name a few. Her friends and family love when she returns from a trip and talks about all the inspirational women she met. Kaitlyn is an 18 year Professional Firefighter Paramedic with a Masters in Public Administration and Emergency Management as well as a certificate in Labor Studies. Love of the ocean, kite surfing, hiking, camping, cooking and attending the theater making lifelong memories collecting passport stamps. Kaitlyn just returned from stunning safaris in Sri Lanka and sunrise over Mount Everest at 18,500 ft. 2024 will start with an AGC trip snorkeling & kayaking the Paradise Islands in Belize learning about the flora and fauna that inhabit this unspoiled marine environment. Then exploring inland Belize including world class birding, lagoons, waterways, and a Mayan ruin. She hopes to check the Galapagos and her final continent Antarctica off her bucket list sooner than later.Lainie currently lives in Washington D.C. with her husband, two teenagers, and two adopted street dogs. She has spent most of her adult life overseas (UK, Papua New Guinea, Guatemala, Kenya, Turkey, and Mexico) so is a very seasoned international traveler and adventurer. When not guiding hiking trips, Lainie continues to work on international aid programs (thus the living overseas!), specializing in youth violence prevention. Lainie loves meeting new people and learning about their diverse experiences, and is an avid hiker, having done many of the AGC itineraries on her own over the years (e.g. Kilimanjaro, Everest Base Camp, etc.). She recently summited a pair of 19,000 foot peaks in Peru with her 18 year-old son (and they got matching tattoos, a first for both!).
