Autology

London calling - Will Low-emission zones be coming to your town too?

05 Nov 2021

Description

The City of London recently expanded its Ultra-Low Emission Zone on October 25, forcing those with non-compliant high-emissions vehicles to pay a daily fee of £12.50 to drive in the area. This is in addition to the daily Congestion Charge fee. IHS Markit experts explain what vehicles are subject to the charges and discuss whether schemes such as the above are forcing owners to purchase newer and greener vehicles. They also reveal the cost of the alternative: retrofitting your vehicle with technology that will make it ULEZ compliant. Wider implications, including the uptake of EVs and forcing high-emissions vehicles to the next town via second-hand sales, may also mean that low-emission zones could be adopted in cities in and outside of the UK. Tune into this week's episode of Autology to see how you're impacted. Speakers: • Graham Evans, Supply Chain Technology director at IHS Markit • Michael Southcott, powertrain component expert at IHS Markit We'd love to hear your thoughts on this episode at our [email protected] email, and you can find out much more across the autotechinsight.ihsmarkit.com website.
