27 Dec 2020

Description

Episode 42 of Barbell Radio, I have my friend Cristian Joseph Clanor (CJ) who currently competes professionally in Muay Thai kickboxing in Japan. Recently CJ had won the IMC Intercontinental Middle Class Champion by knockout, going against, BOM Super Welter Weight World Champion/WMC Intercontinental Champion Kei Kakinuma. As a Phillipino American, CJ discusses his journey on getting where he is today training competitively in a foreign country, comments on his last fight at Battle of Muay Thail and his emotional fluctuations leading up to a fight. Combat sport is something that I take very high interest in and it was an honor to be able to ask CJ about his sport from my approach as a Powerlifter. Timeline 01:02 Living in Japan 02:18 Difficulties training in Japan 04:10 Starting Muay Thai 08:39 Difference between Muay Thai and MMA 10:52 Comments on your last fight 13:37 Pre competition anxiety 14:52 Importance of researching about your opponent 20:30 Pressure going into a fight 23:00 Scoring/ style of fighting  27:40 Only YOU know how hard you trained 32:15 Emotional Fluctuations leading up to the fight 34:50 Mental training 43:30 Story behind your walk out song 46:00 Rewarding moments of being a fighter 50:10 Being knocked down: the feeling 58:35 Japanese/Korean training style differences 01:05:30 Doing what you LOVE 01:10:30 How can I fight in Japan 01:14:49 Where can we reach you?
