Many people will know our guest this week from their work as being an activist, a columnist and a political commentator. OR you might know them for the work they were involved in with a banning of conversion therapy in Aotearoa/New Zealand. In this final episode of 2023 with Shaneel, we touch on those topics, but we talk more candidly about Shaneel just completing their Law degree with the University of Auckland, the move from Fiji to New Zealand. We also speak about the writing journey that has allowed Shaneel to publish a really powerful memoir "One of Them". Our conversation talks about topics that were in front of mind at the time of recording the podcast, about being awarded Young New Zealander of the Year, what that was really like for Shaneel and what it means. As always this was a fantastic conversation with another fantastic human with so much to share and so many lessons to take away.
