On today’s episode, we are joined by teacher and mental health advocate Asha Ayanna. As we discuss the equity problem that exists in education, Asha reflects on her experiences as “the diversity”, the importance of recognizing various learning styles, and how her early exposure to education shaped her classroom philosophy. Speaking life into the dreams of students, creating lessons that enable them to shine, understanding who your students are, and learning about the unsung cultural heroes. The connection with students is key, and Asha speaks on the power of mindfulness, having a growth mindset (and seeking out professional development opportunities), and healing on every step of life’s journey.
