On today’s episode I would like to give a warm welcome to Dr Alicia Tompson. Alicia has a Doctorate in clinical psychology and is currently working at the Bromham Clinic in Melbourne. The Bromham clinic is a multidisciplinary medical practice dedicated to treating eating disorders through the discipline of psychiatry, psychology, dietetics and social work. Alicia also collaborates with other medical professionals within the eating disorder treatment service at Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne where she has a special interest in supporting young people and their families, affected by restrictive eating disorders. On todays episode Alicia has kindly offered to speak about the topic of spontaneity for those who over- control as an eating disorder behaviour. Alicia will also be introducing us to a therapy called Radically Open Dialectical Behaviour Therapy also known as (RO-DBT). As RO-DBT is used to treat symptoms of maladaptive perfectionism, cognitive rigidity, self-criticism, internalised expectations, excessive fears, exaggerated self- control and social isolation through a skills based- intervention model. With the RO DBT model focusing on social signalling, radical openness and social connectedness skills. So let’s hear more about it. Podcast summary: 1.
