But, Chris Kreider's shorthanded goal midway through the second was the turning point as the Hurricanes special teams woes continued. On the bright side, the penalty kill was a perfect 4 for 4, but they lost the battle having been outscored 1-0 on their own power plays. Svechnikov's second playoff goal tied the game with 1:36 left in the 3rd, but Artemi Panarin's 4th playoff goal came just 1:43 into overtime.
