Market Close 31 July 23: Nervy start ahead of possible rate hike

It’s the first day of the week and the last day of the month, which means we’re looking back at July and looking ahead to August. The question on everyone’s lips, will we get a rate hike tomorrow? It was a volatile end to the month, but the key index recovered in the final two hours of trade to end higher by around 7 points or 0.1%. Eight of 11 sectors were higher with Healthcare up 0.6%.
