U.S. Treasuries were mixed amid uncertainty surrounding the government shutdown, while in Europe, equities edged higher as investors assessed a fresh batch of earnings. Gold was little changed ahead of key U.S. private payroll data, and iron ore slipped on weaker steel production in China.
