Connect My Brain

24. The long-term effects of chronic stress on children

02 Jun 2022

Description

Today we're continuing our series on childhood development by talking about stress and it's influence on developmental progression. We use the word stress so lightly, but it is a physiological event that can affect every part of our bodies, and especially our brains. We are not meant to be in stress all the time. I think we often think about stress as it applies to adults, but forget that children can also experience stress and chronic stress. In this episode I talk about how stress relates to development and physiology, how it triggers our fight or flight response, and what to do if you or your child are caught in a cycle of chronic stress.  SHOW NOTES: https://connectmybrain.com/episode24
