The Cottage By The Canal (Long Deeply Sleepy Bedtime Story)

07 Sep 2025

Description

This is a bedtime story for grown ups about a girl visiting a cottage beside the canal. She walks through a meadow, down to the canal, wanders along the side of the canal until she arrives at the cottage, where she meets a friendly, elderly woman. The woman has prepared some food for her. She eats the food, enjoys a warm drink, sits outside during the evening for a while with the woman, on the edge of the canal, before heading to bed. She drifts into a therapeutic dream about how the brain works to process reality in a healthy way. Her experience has her meet a farmer harvesting cupcakes, watching another farmer harvesting marshmallow fields, she finds a flipbook in a tin in a treehouse, which tells the story of a lizard cello player who finds their cello broken, then a jester appears and shows that it isn't really broken, it was an April Fool's joke, then the lizard playing a cello solo before an audience who all give a standing ovation. The girl finds a key in the tin which opens a door to a magical mansion. She explores that mansion, meeting a snowman who tells her that all of this is aspects of her brain and how it functions. The next day, she starts her training with the elderly lady, exploring her mind and consciousness & achieving wellbeing. After many days, the training ends with her being guided through a mind expansion and deep inner healing process, before she heads to bed and for the last night before returning home, drifts peacefully asleep into Slumberland. This sleep story contains background music created by me.
