Maj Toure, rapper and founder of Black Guns Matter, joins David Gornoski to discuss gun laws and law enforcement. Maj highlights that places with fewer restraints on gun-ownership are less prone to gun violence. "We are addicted to the spoils of crime as opposed to the liberty of freedom," Maj says as he points to the correlation between the high number of victimless crime laws and the increase of state-initiated violence in society. We need to atone for the violence committed in the past, Maj says as he reflects on the murder of George Floyd and other injustices. How do we atone for the violence and move towards freedom and responsibility? Listen to the full episode to find out.
