Ep 3: Solidarity is not a crime. With Sascha from the Iuventa crew (English).

25 Oct 2021

Description

In March 2021, the Italian prosecutor officially charged Sascha and others from the Iuventa Crew with “aiding and abetting illegal immigration.” They now risk up to 20 years in prison. In this episode Sascha talks to us about his political background and beliefs, the daily reality of search and rescue operations in the Mediterranean, and the hallucinatory events that ultimately led to the charges pressed against him, which include espionage, in-depth surveillance, undercover operations, and media set-ups. And we talk about the criminalization of solidarity, and how we can make sure this criminalization does not stop us, but motivates us to continue to organize for a world where people can move freely.
