Taylor Swift's experiences with Scooter Braun and Big Machine Records revived a much older question: must artists always own their work? In this episode, we look at a brief history of Taylor Swift's problem with her masters, the different sides of the issue (we tried to be as fair as we could!) and why that matters not just to swifties, but for many other content creators and artists that try to navigate a world where bigger entities tend to put them in potentially disadvantageous long-run positions. (PS: We mentioned copyright a few times and noted how complicated that field of law could be. We recommend Tom Scott's video on the subject- https://youtu.be/1Jwo5qc78QU)
