Growing up in a conservative Mennonite community in rural Canada Patrick Friesen (AppleJack Hospitality) grew up with a plain diet, so he spent a lot of time in the family kitchen trying to make things taste better. It led to a love of food and cooking, and when he stepped into a commercial kitchen he realised not only the potential for a career, but one that could take him around the world.
