Episode 114 - Amy Sproston

HEY! THERE’S BEEN RACES ON THIS WEEK!!! WOOOOOOOO. Matt and Eugene get amongst it with all the action from the Taupo ultramarathon, Three Peaks Plus 1, The Abel Tasman Coastal Classic and the Wairarapa Country Marathon..There’s also an excellent Greatest Run Ever and don’t even get us started about Amy Sproston. Oh, go on then… Amy is an elite trail and ultra marathon athlete based in Jordan. Amongst many amazing feats Amy has four top ten Western States finishes under her belt (finishing 2nd in 2016), a TDG finish and a IAU 100km world championship title. Generous, and considered, Amy speaks about her FKT on the Jordan trail, and how that had the added importance for the country in the current context of their international tourism being shut down due to the pandemic, we spoke about Amy’s life as an elite ultramarathoner, and how this changed in focus due to injury, we spoke about travel, development work, gender issues, and how indeed a Cheeseburger from McDonalds might just be the perfect sports food.
