Zachary Friedley - Born To Adapt

Kia ora e te whānau. Zachary Friedley has been on a hero’s journey. From his childhood wrestling, to his attempts to gain Paralympic track glory, to living what he thought was the American dream, Zachary always felt he was searching for something. Here follows a journey from Kansas City to the electric lettuce farms of Humboldt County to the beaches and Redwoods of Mendocino California, Zachary found himself, his love of running, and his passion for engaging others with disability on the trails and open spaces. Zachary is now a professional trail runner for On Running, competing at races around the world, including our own Tarawera in 2023. Zachary is featured in Christopher McDougall’s upcoming Born to Run 2, and is also the founder of Mendocino Movement and the Born to Adapt trail events.
