Collective occupational trauma refers to what happens when we are forced to push through stressful and traumatic daily work experiences, including exposure to, hearing, or seeing others in pain, fear, and terror. They discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic and national civil unrest due to gross inequities people of color are facing on a day-to-day basis have introduced even higher levels of stress for healthcare providers and what happens during a trauma tsunami, when patient and provider boundaries are muddy.
