District of Conservation

EP 144: Lead Ammo Ban (H.R. 405) Will Undermine Shooting Sports, Hunting

04 Feb 2021

Description

In Episode 144 of District of Conservation, Gabriella discusses the implications of Rep. Ted Lieu's (D-CA) House Resolution 405 which would "require the Secretary of the Interior to prohibit the use of lead ammunition on United States Fish and Wildlife Service lands, and for other purposes." Lieu is no friend to hunters. Prior to entering Congress in 2015, he received the full backing of the Humane Society. Lieu is also opposed to big game hunting and hunting with dogs. Gabriella cautions listeners about his intention and the unintended consequences of lead bans on the economy/conservation funding, hunting access, and Second Amendment rights.  SHOW NOTES H.R. 405 - 117th Congress & The LEAD Act (copycat bill) w/ Dan Ashe support Obama FWS Bans Lead Tackle & Bullets on FWS Federal Public Lands (December 2016) CA Lead Ammo Ban CSF Explainer on Lead Bans on Sportsmen/Women Lead vs. Non-Toxic Bullets ### Leave a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review on Apple Podcasts.
