Dodgers Prospect, RHP Zack Plunkett, Joins Dodger Poke

Zack Plunkett has one of the most unique stories in professional baseball and he tells his story to Dodger Poke. He spent 5 years in College and never was a starter either at TCU or Arkansas, but, despite never being a starter he was drafted not once, but twice. He was a catcher all the way through, but had thrown 1 inning while at TCU, and just by a stroke of luck, a scout was in the stands and remembered how big his arm was. Fast forward several years and at a different school, this same scout, Brian Kraft, came to talk to Plunkett at Arkansas during his Senior season and told him that he couldn't draft him as a catcher because he had never started, but that he needed to try and pitch. Plunkett threw a couple bullpens, hit 97 with the fastball but never got in a game. Despite only having only pitched 1 inning in college, and never having pitched before that, the 6'2 Texas native was drafted in the 20th Round of the 2019 Draft.
