When I read Luke 2:7, which says that Mary gave birth to Jesus in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn, I was bothered a lot. I asked myself, whose fault was it that Jesus was born in such a depressing place and why did the world not provide something better for the Messiah? Was it because Joseph was poor, that he could not afford to pay for a room in the inn? Joseph was a carpenter, someone who builds houses. Ang tawag sa kanya today is contractor, so surely he had more than enough to pay for a decent room. Was it the fault of the “prince of the air”, mentioned in Ephesians 2:2, because he did not want the Son of God to feel welcome? Bakit, ibig bang sabihin nito, God cannot overpower the devil to provide the best accommodation for Jesus? As I was contemplating on what happened the day Jesus was born, I found myself asking, “What would have happened if Jesus was born in a palace, instead of a manger? How would we approach Him if He grew up as a man of privilege instead of a carpenter’s son? What will this world be if Jesus came as a conquering King instead of a merciful savior?” I realized that Jesus was born in a manger, not because God could not provide something better, but instead, God would not have it any other way. Sana, the audio message below will help you see the kindness of the Lord so that you may know that whatever situation you are in, God placed you there to accomplish His great and wonderful purpose.
