Diagnosed with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia at just seven years old, Lily struggled to find effective support throughout her early schooling. It wasn't until her freshman year of high school that her mother, Samantha Bailes, took matters into her own hands, teaching her with the Sounds In Syllables (SIS) method. This breakthrough helped Lily go from functional illiteracy to reading at grade level, paving the way for her to graduate summa cum laude from West Virginia University. Now a graduate student in the advanced standing Social Work program at the University of Pennsylvania, Lily reflects on the powerful role her mom and SIS played in transforming her life.
