He secured an esteemed position as a quantity surveyor in his hometown of Winchester. However, the building recession of 1991 disrupted his career path, leading to his redundancy. Undeterred, Chris diversified his skills and took on various roles. Notably, he became an engineer for a company specialising in the construction of underground pollution interceptors, large catch tanks, and flood control devices. Through this role, Chris gained a profound understanding of environmental issues, particularly the impact of pollutants and spills from roads and vehicles.
