After leaving the air force in 2015, where he ran the search and rescue helicopter force engineering elements, he joined Jaguar Land Rover. As the project manager on the Jaguar I-Pace, Randal led the team that developed the first premium electric vehicle in Europe. The car went on to win numerous awards and was named car of the year in 2019. He then focused on electrifying the Jaguar Land Rover UK retailer network, establishing a charging network and implementing safety policies. However, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted his plans. A telecoms company then headhunted Randal to develop their EV charging division. He successfully built the arm and established the company's presence in the industry. Randal is working at Urban Fox, a partnership between Urban Electric and Balfour Beatty Investments. They have created a unique on-street pop-up charger for residential areas, which has already gained positive feedback and is being tested by various councils. Randal's extensive experience and connections in the EV industry make him a valuable asset to any company.Randal Smith Links:Website: https://urbanfox.networkLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/evchargingsolutions/?originalSubdomain=ukEpisode Keywords:Electric vehicle charging, charge point operators, government funding, advertising, marketing, councils, part-time employees, understanding, solutions, trust, reputation, standards, free charge point, maintenance, taxation, total cost of ownership, chargSupport the showIf you enjoyed this episode of Electric Evolution, please take a moment to leave us a review on your favourite podcast platform.
