They discuss organisations' evolving roles and responsibilities in fleet management and sustainability. Lorna shares valuable insights on the increasing importance of fleet managers, who now have a career path to the executive board level. Lorna also speaks about being a Mentor and Influencing Change, encouraging others and bringing more people into the fleet industry. Lorna McAtear Bio:Lorna McAtear began her career in project management, specifically in the field of IT. However, she transitioned into Fleet management when she realised that a significant portion of a car's technology now relied on computer systems. This realisation prompted her to explore carbon reduction projects, such as removing roof racks from vans and implementing telemetry systems. She became one of the pioneers in using a single black box instead of two, opening up new possibilities for efficiency. Through these experiences, Lorna eventually became a commercial vehicle manager and developed a deep understanding of the Fleet industry. Her success in this transition demonstrated the transferable nature of her matrix management skills, a concept many overlook.Lorna McAtear links:Website: https://www.nationalgrid.com/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lorna-mcatear-0b3a1153/Episode Keywords:Evolution of roles, sustainability managers, fleet managers, sustainability targets, scope one, scope three emissions, engagement, power infrastructure, reliable grid infrastructure, vehicles, transmission and distribution business, evolving fleet, electric vehicles, supply chain issues, alternative fuel types, vehicle suitability, vehicle replacement, practical solutions, diesel vehicles, head of fleet, procurement team, commercial vehicles, strategic sustainable carbon reduction, carbon footprint, drivers facilities, truck driving, vehicle design, industry progression, van drivers, charging infrastructure, CPOs, drive-through capabilities, security and recognition, existing infrastructure improvement, Association of Fleet ProfessionalsEpisode Hashtags:#EvolutionOfRoles #SustainabilityManagers #FleetManageSupport the showIf you enjoyed this episode of Electric Evolution, please take a moment to leave us a review on your favourite podcast platform.
