In this episode I'm going to introduce you to some quintessentially summery English songs. These will be well known to most native speakers and are often used as background music in shops, so even if we don't know who sings them, we usually know all the words! AKA - also known as Robin Hood - Robin Hood is a legendary hero from British History. First noted in books in the 1400's nobody really knows if he even existed, but we have a lot of stories. He is famous for living in Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire and for stealing from the rich to give to the poor. rocketed back into fame - phrase meaning something very quickly became popular, these days we might also say 'went viral', but this happened before 'going viral' was a thing. to the forefront of pop music - at the forefront means at the front or the first of something. breeding ground - a place where lots of creativity or action happens. This can be negative 'a breeding ground for bugs' or positive 'a breeding ground for creativity'. listened nonstop - when we listen constantly the most covered song in the world - 'covered' in a musical sense means somebody else sang the song.
