See you tomorrow! Vocabulary In every sense of the word She's a genius in every sense of the word. It's a disaster in every sense of the word. This is often used hyperbolically (to exaggerate) but can be used when a word has more than one meaning. In generally it means that person or thing is really really like that. In essence it means... In essence, it means we're in trouble. Essentially he means you won. This one has many variations that are very similar and can be used in the same way, grammatically. They are a way of introducing a simplified version of what someone has already said. In essence, it means Essentially, it means Basically, it means The gist of it is The last one is a little different but is often used the same way. The gist of it is that we're in trouble. The gist of it is that you won. (Note: Gist is pronounced Jist) From all angles... From all angles it's a great success. Any way you look at it, he's a traitor. These two have a very similar meaning and are used to emphasises that there is no other way to see or understand something. There's no way of getting out of it... There's no way around it, we'll have to leave. There's no getting out of it, you messed up. These two can be used when delivering bad news or when summing up situations.
