About the guest, Christopher West:Christopher West is a renowned educator, best-selling author, cultural commentator, and popular theologian who specializes in making the dense scholarship of the late Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the Body accessible to a wide audience. His extensive global lecturing, his numerous books and articles, and his multiple educational programs have sparked an international groundswell of interest in the late pope’s teaching across denominational lines.West has been teaching graduate and undergraduate courses on the Theology of the Body and sexual ethics since the late 1990s, having served on the faculty of St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver, the Institute for Priestly Formation in Omaha, and as a visiting professor of the John Paul II Institute in Melbourne Australia. Since 2004 he has served as a research fellow and faculty member of the Theology of the Body Institute near Philadelphia. In this episode, Justin and Christopher West discuss:The Church's Duplicity: A Reflection of Our Own BattlesIt's easy to be scandalized by the imperfections within the church but confronting this duplicity invites us to look inward. Christopher poignantly reminds us that the struggles we observe in the institution are reflective of the same battles raging within each of us. From Public Critique to Personal RevelationDespite his years of evangelism and teaching, Christopher himself is no stranger to feeling the sting of public critique. He recalls a particularly trying period following an appearance on the secular news show "Nightline," which led to an introspective journey. The Theology of Rejection and Its Role in IntimacyDigging deeper, Christopher discusses the concept of 'the theology of the rejected.' He describes rejection as humanity's deepest wound and asserts that our response to pain and suffering can ultimately lead to a profound intimacy with others and with our Creator. “We know we're loved in our brokenness. We know that even if the whole world rejects me, I'm not alone. The Father is with me, and I'm loved by him. That's the good news we all long to know.”-Christopher WestConnect with Christopher West:Website: https://askchristopherwest.com/, www.theologyofthebody.com X (Twitter): cwestofficial Facebook: https://web.facebook.com/cwestofficia...
