Description

What is Communicative Language Teaching? Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) is a teaching method that emphasizes developing learners' ability to communicate effectively in the target language using authentic language in real-life situations. It focuses on holistic development of language skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with the goal of producing competent and confident communicators.   In the Teaching Methodology Exposed series, we take a look at notable language-teaching methods which have influenced us and wider education.  We, as educational professionals, explain the history and rationale behind these methodologies and analyze a real class example to better weigh each method's pros and cons as an effective teaching approach.
