48. Animal Behaviour & Weaning Considerations For Horse Owners With Jenni Nellist

09 Dec 2021

Description

In this episode, I chat with Jenni Nellist who is a Clinical Animal Behaviouralist. She helps caring horse and dog owners struggling with their animal's problem behaviour to get a deeper understanding,  remove stress, restore partnerships, and change behaviour. Together we chat about: Her journey with horses up until when she started university Her studies in Equine Science Her project which looked at herd dynamics in a group of mares when a stallion was and wasn't present How she would use positive reinforcement to help rehabilitate horses Some science around different weaning protocols and some more ethical ways of doing it for pleasure and performance horses How stress early in a horses life can predispose them to gut issues, picking up vices, nervous behaviour etc.  How important it is to continue to learn and collaborate with others And so much more!
