Good morning and welcome to the NBA Daily for December 13th, 2024. Coming up, we got Wes Goldberg from Locked On Heat to talk about the heat. And of course, we're going to hit Jimmy Butler's purple hair. And then we've got Sam Amick going along. We're going to talk Rockets. We're going to talk NBA Cup. We're going to talk front office rankings. And we're going to do even more Jimmy Butler talk.
Good morning, everybody. Good morning, Zena. Ooh, the Miami Heat pick up their fourth win in a row last night, and the NBA Daily curse did not spread to our new guest, Wes Goldberg. You might know him from Locked on Heat, Locked on NBA. Wes, welcome to the NBA Daily. Thanks for having me. What's the curse? I wasn't aware of this. Every time we book a guest, it just feels like the team loses.
As long as something happens to the team, I don't care.
Nothing to the guest. I want to say we're sending people away with good luck. But the team's having bad luck. But good luck here recently for the Heat. Look, they're getting healthy again, finding their footing, won four straight. Tyler Hero is looking like a real basketball player these days. They found this guy, Drew Smith, out of nowhere who's able to contribute.
You know, what's what's going on with the team right now? And why are we hearing so much buzz that's off the court when they're playing so well?
It's a great question. In terms of the first part, they've finally figured out how they want to play, the rotations that they want to get to. Eric Fulcher kind of had a pretty audacious plan going into the year, playing Terry Rozier and Tyler Hero together in that backcourt, playing Nikola Jovic at that starting power forward spot.
There was just so many question marks, not really knowing how that bench unit was going to look or how it was going to work. And... doing all that while also installing what was going to be essentially a five-out offense. They wanted to take a lot more threes. They wanted to reduce the amount of mid-range shots that they took. They were way over-indexed on mid-range shots last season.
