And the chief priests of the scribes were seeking how to put him to death for they feared people. The feast of unleavened bread was just the Passover. It was coming. So you got to keep in mind, there's an extra amount of Jews in town for the Passover. Okay. Not like normal. Cause there's a holiday here. We're celebrating.

And because there's an extra amount of people, there's a lot of people that probably respected the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Messiah. Verse 3, Then Satan entered into Judas, called Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve. He went away and conferred with the chief priests and officers how he might betray him to them. and they were glad and agreed to give him money.

93.424 - 113.162 Bryce Crawford

So he consented and sought an opportunity to betray him to them in the absence of the crowd. When it says Satan entered into Judas, it means that he prompted him to do this. Judas is solely responsible for his sin against Jesus. He can't take responsibility for fulfilling prophecy that Jesus could be crucified. That's why Jesus later on will say, "'Woe to him who hands me over.'"

114.063 - 131.74 Bryce Crawford

because he is fully responsible. Now, when we go back up to verse 2 really quick, it says that the chief priests and scribes feared the people. Notice how they didn't fear God. They feared the people because they wanted to find a way to kill Jesus in a politically correct way because they didn't want to offend the people at the time. Verse 7 says,

132.756 - 145.959 Bryce Crawford

Then the day came of unleavened bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. So Jesus sent Peter and John saying, go and prepare the Passover for us that we may eat it. So he's giving them just clear instructions on what to do for the Passover supper. They said to him, where will you have us prepare it?

146.399 - 163.91 Bryce Crawford

He said to them, behold, when you have entered the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. That's kind of abnormal because normally that was a woman's job, but there's a man carrying a jar of water. Follow him into the house that he enters, and tell the master of the house, The teacher says to you, Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?
