I'm super expectant. Got a lot of faith for that night. So show up January 19th at 6 p.m. Go to jesusinthestreet.org slash tickets to get your tickets. Let's go into Luke chapter 8. Now we're going to see Luke open up chapter 8 here with talking about women accompanying Jesus. He said, And the twelve were with him and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities.
Mary called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out. Joanna, the wife of Chusa, Herod's household manager, and Susanna and many others who provided for them out of their means. Now, this is interesting that Jesus is traveling with some women as well, because he had a different perspective of women than the religious leaders did at the time.
Alongside that, it also says that many others who provided for them out of their means. So this is saying that Jesus could have produced as much money as he wanted, as much food as he wanted because he was God, but no, it shows him in his humanity relying on the servanthood of others to provide for the ministry that they're accomplishing.
So I think it's super powerful, just shows the humanity of Jesus Christ here. We're about to read the parable of the sower, and I'm going to break it down using the scripture below it. Oftentimes, this is a beautiful thing. I love getting to preach the word of God, but oftentimes, to understand scripture that Jesus says, we can just read some verses afterwards, and he tells us what's going on.
So we're going to do that today. The parable of the sower. And when a great crowd was gathering and people from town after town came to him, he said in a parable, a sower went out to sow a seed. And as he sowed, some fell along the path and was trampled underfoot. And the birds of the air devoured it. And some fell on the rock. And as it grew up, it withered away because it had no moisture.
And some fell among the thorns and the thorns grew up with it and choked it. And some fell into good soil and grew and it yielded a hundredfold.
as he said these things he called out he who has ears to hear let him hear when jesus whenever jesus says let anyone who has ears to hear let him hear he's saying if any of you are humble enough to listen to the teachings and apply it to your life then do so now some might say well what does that parable mean we're about to jump down into it but why does jesus speak in parables if you guys remember i made a podcast about this earlier but it's a sifting mechanism it separates the people that just wanted the benefits of the kingdom without the king
